Integration of services in the interest of children's prosperity
Work on improvements in the interest of children began in the spring months of 2018, when Ásmundur Einar Daðason, then Minister of Social Affairs and Equality, called for a conference on early intervention in the interest of children.
Subsequently, five ministers and the Association of Local Authorities signed a declaration of willingness with the aim of abolishing obstacles between service providers, improving services in the interest of children and creating a child-friendly society. In January 2022, the Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity entered into force (No. 86/2021), often referred to as the Prosperity Act for simplicity. It will take time to implement the new Act and a new way of thinking, so we give ourselves 3–5 years for the implementation period. We are all going to work together on this.
